Case Studies
Background
Men At Work (MAW) was established in 2001 by David Bigeni to provide temporary staffing solutions to the Port Macquarie area. Since that time the business has developed across several different markets with offices in Port Macquarie & Coffs Harbour. MAW are now market leaders in Labour Hire, Temporary Staffing, Traffic Management and Training & Assessment across the North Coast of New South Wales. The business has evolved to be a market leader and preferred supplier on the North Coast.
Working with MAW
The MAW group first started working with Ryan Financial as Tax and Accounting clients in 2013. The group entered a new and exciting era during October 2017 following 12 months of succession planning, with founder David Bigeni passing the reigns of the business to son Kiel and General Manager Ross Cargill. We enjoyed co-ordinating the process and, in particular, designing and implementing the post-acquisition structure with both Tax and Financing considerations (for both parties) in mind.
Feedback
“Shane’s guidance was instrumental in ensuring a smooth transition from one generation of ownership to the next. Shane’s dedication in assisting us through an extensive succession planning process ranged from initial conceptual modelling of how this may occur right through to some quite complex Capital Gains Tax considerations. Shane’s pragmatic approach is a true strength, particularly when emotions become involved, it isn’t always easy when it comes time to ‘hand it down’ but everyone has been very happy with the result.” (Ross, MAW)
“With Shane’s understanding of our business and financing structure and the various people involved he was able to make the process easy and put a lot of things into simple terms for us to understand. Stoked to have someone with his business knowledge in our corner” (Kiel, MAW)

Ryan Financial was initially engaged to assist with taxation and accounting work. We now provide a complete back office solution for all of Eagle’s bookkeeping, tax and accounting needs.
Feedback
“Shane assists us with preparation of our Annual Cashflow Forecast and his team produces a deck of monthly management reports for board reporting purposes. The format of this has continually evolved (at our stakeholder’s requests) and Ryan Financial continue to work with us to improve on the management information we rely upon. We have a seamless relationship with Ryan Financial’s team and they assist us daily in managing the various cashflow management needs of our company.
Shane’s contribution to our strategic goals has been paramount to our success. Shane’s critical thinking is second to none, and it’s great to have someone outside our industry look at challenges from a different angle” (Dave, Eagle).

Feedback
“Ryan Financial have always provided a great service covering our tax & accounting needs. Shane is always very accessible and has become a valuable part of our management team. Having his level of skills on call gives us comfort with our decision making.
We were fortunate to have his support in implementing Xero in such a way that we can eventually integrate seamlessly with a specialist construction industry add-on. This Is not something we do every day, so our team has appreciated the hands-on approach of Ryan Financial throughout the implementation project. We are already seeing some efficiency gains and I’m definitely looking forward to the benefits of managing the business from a range of more flexible locations.” (Adam, Pycon)
